Ama Law

Hip Hop

AMA LAW DANCER / CHOREOGRAPHER Ama Law began her dance training with Kankouran West African Dance Company. Literally being born into the African culture, as both of her parents are founding members, she was a company member for most of her youth and teenage years. She is an alumnus of DyNaMiC dance team at the University of Maryland-College Park and was president for the 07-08 season, leading the team to place 3rd at Culture Shock DC’s East Coast Dance Competition! Graduating with a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a certificate in Women's Studies, she took a break from academia to expand her dance vocabulary. She completed a rigorous internship at Broadway Dance Center in Manhattan, NY fall 2008 as a hip-hop concentration, training under world-renowned choreographers such as Luam, Rhapsody James and Jared Grimes. Since returning to the DMV, it's been her goal to share her training with everyone. She is the former Artistic Director of B.Funk Dance Company’s Hip hop Crew teams. She and her husband Chris often teach, mentor and battle together as Project ChArma. She is a Culture Shock DC alumni and a forth year member of the all-girl crew, Kickrocks! As an artist with Cruz Productions, she hopes to help inspire and expose others while continuing to immerse herself in various hip-hop styles. House, Vogue, Waackin’ and African dance are a few areas in which she is currently working to expand her versatility as a dancer. She hopes to provide inspiration for the future generation of dancers to not only become fierce but, knowledgeable individuals. Amanda Kerby

Lyrical

Amanda Kerby was born and raised in Riverside, CA where she received extensive technique training in jazz, lyrical, and ballet. As a nationally ranked dancer, she competed internationally and won the title of Dancer of the World in Australia through Rainbow Competition in 2006. Furthering her education, Amanda has a BA in Dance from California State University, Long Beach and is Pilates Certified. Throughout college Amanda performed with semi-professional contemporary dance company Atlantis Dance Theatre. She has danced on cruise ships, performed with Foreigner, danced two seasons with the San Diego Charger Girls, and was an NFL All-Star cheerleader. She currently resides in San Diego, CA and choreographs and judges around the world including Mexico and Japan.

Andrea Woodward

Lyrical

Andrea Woodward is the owner of Hermitage Dance Academy in Nashville, TN. In 2014 Andrea was nominated for the Industry Dance Awards choreographer of the year. Andrea has won countless awards for her stylistic and emotional choreography and for her students’ technical ability, including both Teacher of the Year and Choreographer of the Year every year from 2008 - 2015 at KAR Nationals. Andrea has been teaching lyrical on the KAR Convention circuit teaching since 2011. Andrea is certified by Dance Masters of America and holds a B.S. degree from Cumberland University in Nashville, TN.

Anjuli Bova

Lyrical

Anjuli Bova hails from Long Island, New York and has over a decade of performance, teaching and choreography experience. Ms Bova received her B.A. in Dance Performance and Psychology from Hofstra University. During her years at Hofstra, she studied under the direction of Lance Westergard, Robin Becker, Michael Blake and Cathy McCann. She took part in many National Dance Festivals, including the American College Dance Festival where her choreography was featured, and the Dancers Responding to Aids Benefit in NYC. Professionally, Ms. Bova was a four year member and Captain of the New York Dragons “Firedancers” (AFL). Her choreography has been featured on “Good Morning America”, the “WB Morning Show” and “Fox Sports”. She has performed with Bon Jovi, 98*, the Venga Boys, and was core dancer on Club Jam TV featured on ABC. One of Anjuli’s greatest accomplishments was opening up her studio, The Dream Center Dance Academy in 2004 with co-owner Cheryl Freund. Over the last decade The Dream Center Dance Company has been awarded numerous Regional and National titles, and is currently ranked one of the Top Ten Studios in the Northeast by the FDC. Ms. Bova has been awarded numerous choreography awards, Teacher of the Year recognitions, and studio excellence awards. Her students can been seen modeling for top costume catalogues, are on scholarship for prestigious Conventions, and have gone on to pursue dance degrees at prominent Universities. Owning the studio has given Ms. Bova the opportunity to judge Nationally for Kids Artistic Revue and Rainbow Dance Competition. She has taught workshops at numerous studios, The Dance Masters Convention in New York, and is currently on faculty for the KAR Dance Convention. She is thrilled that she is able to spread her love and joy of dance to the younger generations and hopes to continue to inspire and motivate dancers for years to come.

Bernadette Natasha

Musical Theater

Bernadette Foth is an accomplished dancer with a diverse performance background, as well as, being a board certified instructor, award winning choreographer, master class instructor and sought after competition adjudicator. She is a certified member of Dance Educators of America, Dance Masters of Michigan, Universal Dance Association and Dance Masters of America. She has performed with Enrique Iglesias, Sesame Street Live, West Side Story, The Wiz, and also was a principal dancer for Detroit Talent. Bernadette is the co-owner of Tina Marie School of Dance in which she operates two successful dance studios in Michigan. Her dancers have received extensive nation-wide accolades for their technique and performances, and many have gone on to dance on Broadway, Cruise Lines, Commercials, Music Videos and for the Radio City Rockettes. She currently travels throughout the country teaching on conventions & intensive programs, along with judging for many competitions such as Lifetimes Hit Show, “Dance Moms”. She also choreographs the opening routines, television appearances and various floats for the Hobble Gobble and Thanksgiving Day Parade, along with a performance with Kenichi Ebina the Season 8 Winner from “America’s Got Talent”. In addition, she is the director of her own in-studio workshop, DanzJam, and has worked side-by-side with numerous highly acclaimed master teachers and choreographers from stage, television and film. Bernadette has dedicated her entire life to cultivating talent and enabling her students to reach their fullest potential.

Cori Heckmann-Moody

Tap

At the young age of 3, Cori Heckmann-Moody began her dance training and fell in love with the rhythms and sounds of tap. After thirteen years of training and assisting, it wasn't long before Cori knew she wanted to share her passion for tap with others. For twelve years, Cori directed the tap programs for several studios throughout California, and in 2015 opened her own studio, Roseville Academy of Dance in Roseville, CA. With recognition from today's most popular dance competitions, Cori has won numerous awards for her choreography, most entertaining acts, and highest scoring tap performances at both the regional and national level. Her students have received high point awards, title awards, scholarships, and have taken home top honors from many dance competitions. Cori spends her free time continuing her dance education, choreographing and teaching master classes for studios throughout the United States, judging dance competitions, and running a private lesson based business, CHM Dance Productions. Cori loves teaching dance and is very excited to be returning for her third year with the KAR Dance Convention.

David Mann

Tap

David Mann's innovative tap choreography has appeared on the national television shows "Good Morning America", "America's Got Talent", "America's Most Talented Kids", "Live to Dance", and on the WE Network reality show "Little Miss Perfect". His work can be seen in industrial performances for Hugo Boss, Paramount, Ingersal Rand and on board Celebrity, Holland America, Norwegian and Cunard Cruise Lines. You can also catch his choreography in the national tours of "Road to Victory", "On Tap" and most notably "Dr. Doolittle" starring Tommy Tune. Mann and his choreography have shared the stage with stars like Adam Lambert, Jill Scott, Erika Badu, Regis Philban, Rita Moreno and Queen Latifah. David was also recently awarded "Teacher of the Year" by Dancer Magazine.

Dino Elias

Tap

Dino is a dance instructor at Forever Dance Lake Tahoe. He specializes in Tap, Contemporary, Jazz Funk, and Musical Theater. In 2012, Dino attended Jacob's Pillow in the pre-professional tap program, studying with Diane Walker, Lane Alexander, Derek Grand, Brenda Buffalino, and Lisa LaTouche. In December 2013, Dino performed in the first all tap show "Juba!", at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC. Dino choreographed and danced in "Red Hot Superstars" at the Grand Sierra Resort, Reno, NV. Dino performed in the Muny's production of Billy Elliot this past summer in St. Louis, MO. He has also performed with the contemporary dance company, Emerge, at The El Portal theatre in Los Angeles, CA. Dino has choreographed and taught master classes for studios throughout the West and East coast. Dino has been recognized on the national level for his choreography and teaching abilities.

Donna Shepherd

Jazz

Dancing since the age of three, Donna has trained in the areas of ballet, pointe, jazz, lyrical, modern, and tap. Her first professional endeavor was her performance in Pasadena City Ballet Theatre's version of The Nutcracker at the age 12. Donna attended Orange Coast College and was selected to be a member of the National Champion Dance Team. While attending OCC, she performed in an Usher music video, "Pop Yo Collar", and was featured with Paul DaSilva for Dance Spirit Magazine. Donna has performed in numerous benefit shows in Southern California. She is now a well-known choreographer in the Southern California region winning numerous awards for her choreography and dance training. Her students have gone on to be represented by LA's top agencies performing with artists such as Hillary Duff, Vanessa Hudgens, Shakira, Black Eyed Peas, Fatima and also winning prestigious National titles such as the Music Center Spotlight Grand Champion award. Two of her students have qualified to be one of the top 20 dancers on the hit Fox TV show “So You Think You Can Dance”, Pauline Mata and Jordan Casanova.

Erika Goe

Musical Theater

Erika Goe is a native of Riverside, California, and has been dancing since the age of four. Her 27 years of dance experience began at Just Plain Dancin’ of Riverside, where she trained for 12 years and then onto Riverside Ballet Arts, West Coast School of the Arts Irvine, EDGE Performing Arts Center of Hollywood, and Riverside Community College. Erika's dance training includes ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, and some modern. Teaching dance is Erika’s true passion, and she has been teaching and choreographing for over fifteen years in and around the Inland Empire. Her work has been seen at California Dancer, Riverside Ballet Arts, University Dance Company of CSUSB, A.B. Miller High School, John W. North High School, Martin Luther King High School, Cope Middle School, Cal State Fullerton, Dance Horizons, Chaffey Community College, Riverside City College, Arlington High School, Elevate Dance & Fitness, and Kristi’s Forever Dancin’. Most recently, Erika has been hired as part-time faculty at Riverside City College to instruct beginning & advance level jazz classes within the dance department during the fall and spring semesters. Erika Goe graduated with her Bachelors of Arts in Psychology May 2005 and her MS in Educational Counseling October 2011.

Faliceano was brought into the world of entertainment at the early age of 8, with RIngling Bros. & Barnum Bailey Circus.Faliceano learned most of his hip-hop skills and his dance technique,as well as his Vibrant character which he displays from lifes courses of ups and downs. His hard hitting energetic style is what keeps his kids at the top of the list in all major competitions far and wide. Partnered along with wife Summer Turk they have created the name K.A.S.T.(Keith and Summer Turk) Performing Arts that has taken a multitude of 1st place, top 1st, highest in catagories, and countless title awards.
Faliceano has worked with artist such as Busta Ryhmes, Missy Elliott, Napolean and Tabitha dumo. Choreographed for new and Up coming artist, Bollywood top artist Sukshindar Shinda and more! Landing top nationwide commercials along side of good friend D-trix (quest Crew) he has also grabbed the attention of directors to score a part in the award winning bi costal hit "WICKED".
Meeting with and Audtioning for artist such as Marah Carey,Rihanna,Missy Ellott,Madonna, Faliceano continues to push his students to the L.A. level to land jobs and gain knowledge of their future industry.

Jen Tompkins

Jazz

Jen Toby has been teaching all disciplines of dance and choreographing competition routines for more than 20 years. She has studied Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Hip Hop. Currently she is the owner\director of planetdance in Canton, MI. Her students have won numerous scholarships, overall awards at conventions and competitions and have obtained numerous choreography awards at multiple dance competitions. She has had students perform in the Choreographers Carnival in Los Angeles, California, back up dancers to several different recording artists, assist many different dance conventions and seen on the MTV hit, "Americas Best Dance Crew." Her cutting edge choreography has won numerous awards at both regional and national levels. Jen judges for numerous dance competitions and teaches on workshops around the country. Jen loves teaching and the love of dance instills in students carries throughout all their years of dance.

Jerome Alexander

Jazz

Jerome Alexander has become one of today’s busiest dancers, youngest choreographers, and entrepreneurs. Jerome has danced for Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Kanye West, and the rock band Ok Go! He has also appeared in commercials for McDonalds, the hit show “New Girl,” and in the promo for “So You Think You Can Dance.” In addition to dancing on Nickelodeon’s number 1 show “Victorious,” dancing on America’s Got Talent for Brian Friedman, and in the opening number of the Jerry Lewis Telethon for Emmy Award Winning Choreographer Tyce Diorio, Jerome has appeared in many shows internationally. He danced for Japanese sensation Domoto Koichi and has even starred in a show in Tokyo as the only foreign dancer to appear in the production! Jerome’s teaching and choreography bring him annually to Italy, Tokyo, Switzerland, Germany, Poland, and Puerto Rico. Jerome choreographed the commercial spec for Debbie Allen’s show “Twist,” the commercial for “Sammy and Me,” and was the Assistant Choreographer for a Little Caesar’s commercial, and by the age of 24, Jerome had choreographed his first national commercial. Additionally, he co-choreographed the upcoming movie “Stepping High.” Jerome is also one of the founding members of KJS Enterprises, which released an app with Sophia Lucia. He has won numerous choreography awards both in the United States and in Europe, and he is very excited to work with Kids Artist Revue!

Jessica Etzel

Jessica has been dancing since the age of 8 and has trained in all genres of dance, making her a versatile teacher and choreographer. She trained with many studios & dance companies before settling into the world of teaching. Jessica currently owns & directs her own studio and dance company in Maryland, where her students are national champion competitors and performers. She has been a featured performer at the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover, PA, and she has participated in several events to honor National Dance Week. She was awarded with the Frank Hatchett Broadway Dance Center Scholarship along with the Los Angeles Dance Force, "Dance with the Force Award." Jessica was also named the American Dance Awards "Young Choreographer of the Year,” and her award-winning choreography can be seen throughout the country on both the competition & convention stages. Jessica is a part of the Dance Olympus/DanceAmerica and International Dance Challenge Faculty, where she has had the opportunity to travel to numerous cities, teaching master classes, judging dance competitions, and performing. Jessica graduated from McDaniel College with a degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education. She was also awarded the Richard Clower Award for Excellence.

Jordan Leitson

Tap

Jordan Leitson comes from Cleveland, OH and brings over 20 years of dance experience. He is currently the Co-Owner and Co-Artistic Director of Jordan Center Dance. He was the first worldwide recipient of the prestigious Al Gilbert Memorial Tap Scholarship. Jordan has studied at Point Park University, Alvin Ailey, Steps on Broadway, Dance New Amsterdam, Broadway Dance center, UNLV – Ballet Seminars, and Florida Youth Ballet. He has performed in Disney World, Jazz on Tap Festivals in Atlanta, The David Lynch Show, Doug Benz’Cinderella (danseur and Geppetto) and performances with The Next Project at New York’s City Center Theater and in Maui, Hawaii. He was also featured in Stepp Stewarts Off Broadway hit Red Hot Broadway. Jordan specializes in contemporary, lyrical, tap, ballet and jazz technique and choreography. He has judged and taught for many outstanding dance competitions and conventions around the country. He enjoys teaching and inspiring dancers to be the BEST they can be.

Kevin Hermann

Jazz

Kevin Hermann began his dance training as a child in Albuquerque, NM. He went on to receive his formal training from the University of Arizona, where he graduated Cum Laude with a B.F.A. in dance. He has had the privilege of performing works by world-renowned choreographers Mia Michaels and Dee Caspary, and has danced with Malashock Dance and Company and the San Diego Opera. Kevin has also added video and television work to his credits including commercials for Allstate Insurance, videos for Los Angeles based singer Brooke Wilkes, Melissa Lowe's The New Ballet Workout (Kultur Productions), and has appeared dancing on CBS with Miss America 2000, Heather Renee French. Kevin is a full time teacher and choreographer at The Element Dance Center in La Mesa, CA; winner of the 2008 FDC Pinnacle Cup. His students can be seen in national commercials for Welch's Grape Juice, Divaz Dolls, Target, Kraft, Mattel and McDonald's. He has also been awarded Teacher of the Year and Choreography of the Year from Kids Artistic Revue National Finals. Mr. Hermann continues to travel from coast to coast setting his high energy, unique choreography for kids of all ages and is in high demand for master classes and summer intensives. In addition, Kevin travels with the highly acclaimed Fusion Dance Workshops, a personalized in house intensive, to studios around the country. He enjoys sharing his love and passion for dance with kids around the country!

Kevin Leon

Kevin is the artistic director of Innovation Dance Company in Las Vegas, NV. His students have won many regional and national awards and have gone on to perform in such shows as The Lion King, Radio City Rockettes, The Beatles "Love" show, Cruise Ships, and the Las Vegas Dance Company.

Along with teaching, Kevin is a sought out choreographer and adjudicator. He has worked for such companies as Thunderstruck, Showbiz, Starpower, Hall of Fame and now is joining the KAR family.

Kevin's performing credits include "The Masquerade Show in the Sky" at the Rio Hotel and Casino, principal dancer on several cruise ships, and has had the opportunity to perform with such starts as Usher, Enrique Iglesias, Mary Tyler Moore and MC Hammer.

Kevin Nguyen

Hip Hop

Kevin Nguyen was born in Iowa and raised in Chicago, where his interest in dance and entertainment started. He started his dance career when he moved to California in 2005 and joined Chaparral High School's all male dance team, Agi-lity. Kevin trained heavily with the Temecula Dance Company and Formality under the direction of Erik Saradpon. He furthered his training with Urban FX, and Super Galactic Beat Manipulators. Kevin is happy to call Cookies (formerly known as Choreo Cookies) home. Cookies is considered one of Southern California's best hip hop dance teams, having placed at many competitions such as World of Dance and Body Rock dance competition. Most recently, Kevin was featured in a Android watch commercial and as a principal dancer for Fox’s hit TV show, “X Factor.” Kevin has worked with JIVE Records artist Jawan Harris, Pharrell Williams, Kwanza Jones, Korean Pop Artists B1A4, 2PM, JYP, and Trouble Maker. In addition to his industry work, he teaches classes at Artistic Dance Academy and Studio FX. He believes that there is always something new to discover in the world of dance, and that one must never stop growing. Kevin hopes to continue working in the industry, while also traveling the world to teach and inspire dancers everywhere. Chaldea "Dea" Sevilla is a dancer and choreographer who has been training since a young age, in various styles such as ballet, tap, and jazz around San Diego, CA. Introduced to the hip-hop dance community in 2004, she joined Future Shock SD under the guidance of Belle Abuyo and Jabbawockeez member, Rainen Paguio. Dea furthered her training with Boxcuttuhz under the direction of ABDC's Mos Wanted Crew's, Lando Wilkins, and Super Galactic Beat Manipulators, directed by Jabbawockeez Kevin Brewer. Dea is happy to call Cookies (formerly known as Choreo Cookies) home. Cookies is considered one of Southern California's best hip hop dance teams, having placed at many competitions such as World of Dance and Body Rock dance competition. Dea has recently worked with Pharrell Williams, Gee Kazz and Korean Pop artists Sunmi, JYP, and Trouble Maker. She was featured on Fox's "Mobbed" with Choreo Cookies and the Ellen Degeneres show with Formality. Dea travels across the world to teach and share her love for dance. She has also judged and performed at Casio G-Shock's "Shock the World Tour" in Singapore. As Dea continues to grow as a dancer and choreographer, her hope is to inspire others; teaching dance abroad as well as with local dance studios. Dea feels blessed on her path and looks forward to whatever lies ahead.

Kira Dimartino

Jazz

Moving bodies while moving souls, this Arizona native danced her way into the hearts of all those who she has shared her passion with. Kira DiMartino immersed herself into the dance culture twenty-two years ago, studying with the Edge Performing Arts, Millennium Dance Complex, Ballet Arizona, and the prestigious Dance Connection under the direction of Lisa and Lori Waddel. During this time, she not only perfected her dance skills but her choreography skills as well soon winning the award, Student Choreographer of the Year. She also became the first national L.A. Dance Magic Performer of the year. After high school, Kira was crowned Miss Dance of Arizona, performed and choreographed for the Phoenix Suns Dancers, performed a Broadway Review for the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line, performed in SuperBowl XXX, and is currently leading the world of gymnastics into a new realm of dance. Her professional theater productions include A Midsummer Night's Dream, Charlotte's Web, James and the Giant Peach, Thumbellina and Cinderella. Her dance experiences have included Industrials for DaeWoo, Matrix, Biolege, and numerous choreographer carnivals.

Kristen Hibbs

Musical Theater

Kristen Hibbs was born and raised in sunny San Diego. She started dancing at the early age of 3. At the age of 14, she was assisting dance classes under the guidance of San Diego Dance Centre owner, Sharon Keller. While being mentored by Sharon, Kristen was also busy competing for SDDC in regional/national dance competitions. She was also a member of the Rancho Bernardo High School dance team. Kristen graduated from Rancho Bernardo High School in 2000. In the summer of that same year, Kristen joined the United Spirit Association staff and taught dance camps for high schools all along the California coast. She then went on to dance on the national championship dance team at Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa, Ca. In 2002, Orange Coast College won a berth to the UCA national finals in Orlando, Florida. "Coast" was the first junior college to win the national title in division 1A. It was a great experience for Kristen and her dance career. While dancing with OCC, Kristen made her way to North Hollywood to train at the nation's famous dance studios; Millennium Dance Complex and The Edge Performing Arts Center. Later that year the OCC dance team was asked to be part of the hit comedy "The Hot Chick". Kristen moved home from Orange County in 2003 and became a head instructor for the San Diego Dance Centre. Kristen has had the pleasure of training with some of the nation's most respected instructors and choreographers, including Dee Caspary, Mandy Moore, Mia Michaels, Cory Finn, and Mark Goodman. Kristen has always aspired to one day own and operate her own dance studio. In August of 2007, Kristen acquired the San Diego Dance Centre. She is happy to be living her dream as a studio owner and is looking forward to her future endeavors.

Kristi Fair

Kristi Fair began dancing at the age of three in Riverside, California. At the age of 10 she began dancing for the prestigious West Coast School of the Arts in Cypress, California. During Kristi’s competition years she took top honors in tap, jazz, ballet, and lyrical. In 2001 Kristi opened her own dance studio where she teaches tap, jazz, hip hop, and lyrical. In the past four years Kristi’s students have received high top honors at competitions at both the regional and national level. Kristi has choreographed for local theaters, high schools, and colleges earning top honors. Kristi spends a lot of her time traveling teaching master classes. Kristi received her training from teachers and choreographers such as Cory Finn, Tina D’Amato, Paula Kessinger, Amy Bates, Dawni Novak, and many teachers\choreographers in the LA area.

Marco Cruz is a Choreographer, Dancer, Artistic Director, Judge, Master Class Instructor, and Leader in the Contemporary and Hip Hop Arenas. His musicality and attention to detail have been described as captivating, inspirational and breathtaking. His passion for dance is what has made him one of todayʼs most sought after choreographers and a true original in his field. His professional persuits have no end, he has performed in, choreographed, and directed music videos, commercials and award shows for recording artist such as Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Rihanna, Naturi Naughton, Olivia Newton John, Kenny Loggins, and Kwanza Jones; and production companies including Paramount Pictures, ABC, Nickelodeon, Disney, Power of Youth, Variety Magazine, and Nigel Lythgoe’s Dizzy Feet Foundation. Cruz is no stranger to the world of competitive dance. His works have placed first against some of today’s most elite dance studios. He has earned several National Championship Titles at some of the most prestigious competitions: ShowStoppers, Hollywood Vibe, Starpower, Hall of Fame, Hollywood Connection, Jump, The Dance Awards and KAR just to name a few. Mario Velez Jr. is a professional hip-hop choreographer and dancer\performer. Mario has toured and worked with artists such as Omarion, TLC, Rock Steady Crew, Fergie, My Chemical Romance, Brandy, Boyz II Men, Doug E. Fresh, Paula Abdul & many others! He has also toured with the world-renowned Harlem Globetrotters! Mario is currently performing and choreographing for the National Recording Artist, Jasmine Hormez and for Automatic Response Dance Crew which was featured on the show’s first season of “ America’s Best Dance Crew!”. He has also done work with the NBA and WNBA Phoenix Suns Dance Team, The Seattle Supersonics, The Warrior Girls , The Denver Nuggets and the Phoenix Mercury Hip-Hop Squad. He has trained dancers that have worked with artist such as: Lady GaGa, The Jabbawockeez, Jason Derulo and pricipal dancer David Hallberg from ABT, and many others. Mario has also started an exciting and very passionate Dance Studio called Diverse Elements. His diversity also includes choreography for shows, Splash and Bottoms UP in Las Vegas NV, and Jubilation in Reno, NV. This was all possible because of his long time partner and wife Melissa Velez. Mario has one saying that he lives by-"Hip-hop is not just rapping and music, it is a culture, a way of life!"

Mark Orsborn

Tap

Mark Orsborn is a tapper, choreographer and master teacher. Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Mark began his dance career at the age of five. After receiving numerous accolades and national recognition, Mark left competitive dance to begin focusing on his performing career. He took classes with tap legends such as Henry Letang and Maurice Hines and studied privately with Joseph Webb. He was invited to perform as a soloist with the Tap America Project (TAP) and was featured in such events as the Kennedy Center 25th Anniversary and Smithsonian 150th Anniversary. Mark then joined Knock on Wood to become a member of the tap group, Tappers With Attitude (TWA). During his time with TWA, Mark had the opportunity to perform on a regular basis on stages and theaters up and down the east coast. Shortly thereafter, Mark was cast in the Debbie Allen production of Brothers of the Knight and performed two successful runs of the show at the Kennedy Center. At the age of 16, Mark began assisting Laurie Johnson on the Tremaine Dance Convention circuit. He parlayed that experience and extensive training to begin teaching and choreographing. Mark quickly built a following and became an in-demand choreographer and master tap teacher. For years Mark has choreographed and taught for numerous dance studios and companies. His choreography was featured at the 2011 University of Maryland Choreographers Gala and has been nominated and recognized on a recurring basis throughout the country. Mark currently teaches at different studios, conventions and festivals such as Starpower Power Pak and the D.C. Tap Festival. He also has had the opportunity to co-teach with Laurie Johnson at Tremaine Dance Conventions. Recently, Mark started his own company, The JaM Project, to help spread the love of tap dancing through tap education.

Megan Rogers

Megan Spivey Rogers is the Director and owner of The Fever Performing Arts in Carrollton, Georgia. This will be her 8th year of teaching and choreographing for both competitive dance & cheerleading teams. She is proud to be running West Georgia's premier and quickest growing performing arts centers. The Fever has been voted the #1 rated studio in her area for 4 consecutive years. Megan is an alumni dance team member of Jacksonville State University, Georgia Force Arena Cheerleaders & The Atlanta Falcons Cheerleaders. She has performed on stage with Rascal Flatts and Robin Thicke, made dance appearances on Good Day Atlanta, and was a featured performer in The Varsity Seasonal Promotion. Megan has instructed many students to multiple regional and national high point awards, convention and competition scholarships, and claimed many choreography awards. Her company dancers have held the prestigious National Grand Champion Title for both KAR & Rainbow Dance Competitions. She has students dancing on full college scholarships, acting professionally, and participating in prestigious programs such as The Rockettes Summer Intensive, Joffrey Ballet, & Atlanta Ballet on full or partial scholarships. Her personal experiences range from vocal performances, acting, writing, costume design, directing, and producing originally scripted shows. Aside from her full time teaching schedule with The Fever, she currently travels weekends, professionally judging dance competitions such as Rainbow & Kids Artistic Revue Dance Competitions, choreographs for the her local Community Theater Program, and runs a Montessori dance program. Megan is excited to be a staff member for the KAR Dance Convention this season. More than anything, sharing her love of dance with young hearts is her favorite thing to do!

Michelle Chandler-Smith

Michelle Chandler-Smith began her dance journey at age 12. With over 25 years of experience, her interests and expertise are in jazz, lyrical, contemporary, ballet and modern. She spends her free time teaching and traveling the country continuing her dance education, choreographing, and judging. She has studied under the guidance of Joe Tremaine, Gus Giordano, Dave Massey, Doug Caldwell, Sean Greene, and several others. She has also had the privilege of performing as a member of the jazz-based Eastside Moving Company and the modern-jazz company Fusion, both in Seattle. Upon completion of her degree at Chapman University in Orange, California, she began her teaching career at Backstage Dance Studio in Bellevue, Washington. Several of Chandler-Smith’s students have won title awards regionally and nationally and have gone onto careers with Holland America and Carnival Cruise Lines, Stiletto Entertainment and are seen in many industrial pieces in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas and New York City, as well as Company work in Seattle, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, Pennsylvania, Saipan and London. She continues to be recognized for her choreography regionally and nationally and is truly excited to be sharing her knowledge and insight with students willing to pursue the heart and soul of dance as an innovative and expanding art form. Michelle Richey

Michelle received her education in dance form Long Beach State and Cal State Fullerton. She worked for United Spirit Association for 6 years as a songleading head coach. For over 10 years Michelle made her home at Disneyland performing in both parades and live shows such as the Queen Mary and Spruce Goose Show. She has performed for many superstars like Milton Berle, Dustin Hoffman, Michael Jackson and Frankie Avalon. Her most recent choreography credits include Grease, Anything Goes, Cabaret, Oliver, Peter Pan, Bye Bye Birdie, Godspell, The Wiz and Beauty and the Beast. Michelle's the former owner of MKR Dance Productions which she is the most proud of. Her choreography and her students have been the recipients of many regional and national titles. Many of her students have performed on TV and in music videos, receiving scholarships to major universities and becoming nationally ranked choreographers themselves. Michelle is currently a teacher and choreographer for Dance Precisions in Placentia CA.

Molly Najmolhoda

Molly has been dancing since the age of two. During that time, she has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and musical theater. As both a dancer and a choreographer, she has received top honors at the regional and national levels. Throughout her career, Molly has studied under industry-leading instructors. Additionally, she trained with the Grand Rapids Ballet, and performed several roles during her five years participating in their annual production of The Nutcracker. Molly has been an instructor at Kathy’s Dance Co. since she was was fourteen years old and now shares the title of Co-Director of the school’s competition team. During her time as a teacher, her students have consistently received regional and national honors. She has received the title “Teacher of the Year” four years in a row. Even when not working with her competition team, dance is who Molly is. In her free time, she coaches the varsity dance team at her local high school, and has led them to multiple awards. Her work has also been featured in a music video filmed in Anaheim, California. She looks forward to working with KAR and appreciates the opportunity to be around young dancers who share her passion for dance.

Nicole Doerr

Lyrical

Nicole Doerr has been dancing since she was 3 years old. She studied 4 summers with the Joffrey Ballet. Nicole has been on full scholarship to Broadway Dance Center, The Edge, and many more.  Nicole has earned the title of Miss Dance at KAR and Senior Outstanding Dancer at NYCDA.  She was accepted into the National Ballet of Canada.  Nicole has danced for the Detroit Pistons and performed on ESPN's ProDance where she was chosen to perform onstage as a backup dancer to Brian Friedman.  Nicole also danced at an elite Super Bowl XL party.  She was accepted into the University Of Michigan’s School Of Dance, and was a member of Impact Dance Theatre at U of M.  Nicole ran a summer camp for 10 years that drew dancers from all over the US.  She has performed in commercials and modeled for costume catalogs.  Nicole is the co-owner of Flex Point Performing Arts Center in Farmington Hills, MI.  Nicole's pieces have won numerous top choreography awards, highest overall scores, and Flex Point PAC received the award for Top Elite Studio at KAR Nationals in 2012 as well as won the World Series at Nationals in 2014.  Nicole's students have gone onto be members of many college dance teams, University of The Arts in Philadelphia, professional dance teams, Juilliard, and other various dance programs and companies throughout the US.  She has former students that have performed lead roles in Cirque de Soleil's Iris, and National Tours of Hairspray and A Chorus Line.  Nicole judges and teachers for several National Dance Competitions and Conventions.  She is trained in ballet, lyrical, jazz, contemporary, acrobatics, tap, hip hop, modern, pointe, pom and more!

Orialis Ashley

Orialis is from Puerto Rico and has been dancing since the age of seven. She has trained in all genres of dance from ballet to hip hop, and through her extensive training, earned a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Dance from The Florida State University. After receiving her degree, Miss Serrano moved to Denver, Colorado to join the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble. From 2003 to 2005 she performed ensemble and lead roles in works by Talley Beatty, Christopher Huggins, and Alvin Ailey. From Colorado, she relocated to California to train and perform as a professional commercial dancer. There she appeared in music videos, stage shows, and continued her concert career with Lula Washington Dance Theater, Fusion Dance, Marc Goodman Tap Company and Liz Imperio's Instincts Live Media. Miss Serrano presently resides in Temecula, CA where she teaches and choreographs locally, and continues to travel the country teaching workshops and setting choreography

Patrick Brennan

Hip Hop

Patrick, 26, began his dancing career taking class at his family's studio C&C Dance Company in Bowie Maryland. His professional career started right out of high school with off broadway shows and national tours such as "Footloose", "A Few Good Men Dancing", "Nights On Broadway 2 and 3" and with "The All American Dance Team" with well known choreographers such as Ac Ciulla, Ray Leeper, Laurieann Gibson, Jerry Mitchell, Jeff Amsden and Mark Marino. He then signed with Clear Talent Agency to pursue more commercial work. He has backup danced in music videos and shows for artists such as Toni Braxton, Amerie, Lupe Fiasco, Cassie, Corbin Bleu to name a few. He was featured in the major motion picture "Step Up 2 The Streets" choreographed by Jamal Sims. His television debut was a 4 episode stint for ABC's "One Life To Live" and performed on "The View". Pat has also performed with Rasta Thomas' "Bad Boys Of Dance". Pat has performed across the world but his passion is to teach. He loves to choreograph and inspire kids to express themselves through dance. Pat says watching the growth of dancers is "the best rush you can get" as a teacher.

Patrick Pulkrabek

Patrick Pulkrabek grew up in Hutchinson Minnesota where he studied Ballet and Jazz. He graduated in 2003 from Perpich Center for Arts Education, the Arts High School. He received his BFA in dance from Cornish College of the Arts in 2007. Patrick joined Spectrum Dance Theater with artistic director Donald Byrd as a company member in early 2008 to 2012. He has performed many lead roles by world famous choreographers including Martha Graham, Merce Cunningham, Gus Solomon Jr. and Donald Byrd, and has performed many full length ballets including the Nutcracker, Swan Lake, Coppelia, and many more. Patrick has worked with the 5th Avenue theater in Seattle and was featured as "Dream Curly" in Califormia Music Theater's revival of Oklahoma! Patrick started teaching at Allegro Performing Arts Academy in Kent, WA in 2006, and since has won multiple awards regionally as well as nationally. Some of Patrick's students have gone on to pursue their own dreams and have worked professionally as a featured character in ABC Family's "Bunheads" as well as a Top 3 finalist on "Abby's Ultimate Dance Competition". His students have also attended Tisch School of the arts, University of Arizona, University of Idaho, and Chapman University. His love and passion for dance is infectious and he loves sharing his passion and knowledge with everyone he meets.

Formally trained in all areas of dance and musical theatre. Extensive study in ballet, ballet, tap, acro, voice, and acting. Degree in Theatre from University of Central Missouri. Performed professionally as a singer and dancer for theme parks, at Starlight Theatre, and recorded voice overs and jingles for radio and tv. Has directed/choreographed/appeared in over 35 musicals. This past May she was hired by Cedar Fair Parks to choreograph shows for Worlds of Fun. Currently the owner/director of Steppin' Out In Lee's Summit, M0; recently celebrated 25 years in business. Have been awarded many choreography awards throughout the years, and have judged for major competitions for over 25 years. Serves as an Ambassador at The Dance Teacher Summit in NYC each year. Proud mom of two daughters: Jenn Balagna, owner and designer for OXYjEN, the dance worlds newest, hottest dancewear line; Jill, business manager for Steppin' Out. Has one adorable grandson named Brody. Ms. Phyllis's passions include boating, traveling, and spending time with family and friends.

Raymon Ashley

Raymon Ashley found his passion for dance at the young age of 8 years old, while residing in Northern California. He went on to attend the University of Arizona where he continued to study dance and furthered his training extensively in the styles of Ballet, Modern, Jazz and Tap where he graduated with his BFA in Dance. Raymon immediately went on to pursue a professional career in dance, booking jobs with the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble as well as the David Taylor Dance Theatre, both companies located in Denver, Colorado. Raymon has had the honor and privilege of working with legendary educators and choreographers, Donald McKale and Milton Meyers. After pursuing his career in the "company" world of dance, Raymon made his way to San Diego as well as Los Angeles where he turned his sights to the "commercial" industry of dance. He booked steady work dancing in Industrials, Pepsi and Ford commercials as well as Music Video's with some of the music industries top recording artists. Once Raymon fulfilled his passions as a dancer, he began pursuing his career as a dance educator. His fresh, upbeat approach to teaching has made him one of the most popular and in demand teachers in Southern California as well as across the Country as a guest teacher. When not traveling as one of our fabulous Directors, Raymon spends much of his time traveling with "Fusion Dance" and "KAR Dance" Conventions. Sara Brendel

Sara Brendel is a native of St.louis, MO and has years of dance training and performance experience. She started her professional career dancing for Norwegian and Princess Cruise Lines. She has worked industrial shows and special events for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Nissan Motors, Siemens Technologies, and several other companies with Event Show Productions. She performed in Branson, Missouri with the production shows "Dino's - Somewhere in Christmas" and "The Shoji Tabuchi Show”. Sara also danced in the Broadway- style production of "Katonga" at Busch Gardens, Tampa Bay. Sara has performed beside talented dancers with the Les Grand Ballets Canadians and appeared in the musicals “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat”, "The Music Man", and "42nd Street". Sara received her education from Columbia College Chicago and Webster University as a dance major with a concentration in Choreography. Sara has choreographed numerous nationally award-winning pieces and has received several choreography awards for her work. Sara's choreography can be seen for nationally recognized dance teams and has been featured on ESPN. Her students have gone on to scholarship programs at the Edge Performing Arts Center, Oklahoma City University, Chapman University, and several other university dance programs. Many of her students have successful dance careers performing with world tours, professional dance companies, production shows, music videos and cruise lines. Sara teaches master classes and workshops for numerous studios across the U.S. , she enjoys judging for Kids Artistic Revue and Rainbow National Dance Competition, and is the Creative Director at the Movement Arts Center in St.Louis. In each class, Sara encourages her students to push their boundaries, take risks and to never settle. She is beyond excited to share her passion for dance with the KAR convention.

Sarah Hilarides has been teaching professionally for 13 years now . After graduating from Oakland University with a Bachelors of Arts in Musical Theater and Dance she moved to San Francisco where she worked as a professional Stage actress and choreographer. She has choreographed many shows such as Miss Saigon, Grease, Into the Woods and many more. She has danced in many shows and music videos along with her musical career. Sarah has been choreographing around the country for the past 5 years and has worked with many dance schools and colleges along the way. She is really excited to be on staff this year and can't wait to put the love of learning and dance into children's hearts!

Stephanie Fica

Stephanie Fica is the Assistant Competitive Director of Karen’s School of Dance in Highland, Michigan, where she also directs the award-winning tap program. Stephanie’s students and choreography have been consistently recognized for technicality, precision, and performance quality at national and regional competitions, often receiving top overall high point awards, scholarships, and title honors. Over the years, many of her students have gone on to belong to some of the best university dance teams and dance programs in the nation. Stephanie began her dance training with the Dance’Sations dance company of Michigan in which she competed nationally and regionally for many years, often being recognized as a top soloist. She also spent these years of training taking master classes at conventions such as NYCDA and LA Dance Magic, as well as at Broadway Dance Center in New York City. Stephanie went on to graduate from Michigan State University, and has since devoted her time to teaching and choreographing unique competitive routines. Stephanie continues to receive numerous accolades for her work in the styles of tap, jazz, lyrical, contemporary, and musical theater. She is thrilled to begin another season of inspiring dancers on the KAR Convention National Tour.

Suzie Taylor

Suzie has been dancing since age 4, and has trained in ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, lyrical, and contemporary. At the age of 8, she performed in the Pittsburgh Ballet's production of The Nutcracker. Suzie won many top awards on the regional and national level, and in 2004, she was seen performing in the International Children's Olympics opening ceremony with recording artist Aaron Carter. At Youngstown State University, Suzie was a member and secretary of the YSU Dance Ensemble, and she was also seen on stage with Easy Street Productions in performances such as "Beauty and the Beast", "Annie", and "The Wizard of Oz". She is now a dance instructor at the Steppin Out Dance Center in Youngstown, Ohio, where her students have won numerous awards on the regional and national level, as well as multiple FDC and choreography awards. She has been named "Teacher of the Year" for the past four years at Kids Artistic Revue's National Finals. Her students have won top scholarships at many conventions across the country and have been invited to perform in the Choreographers Carnival in Los Angeles. Her students have also won top honors such as the 2012 Miss Dance of America, and National Grand Champions in hip hop and lyrical. Suzie is also a judge for Kids Artistic Revue and Rainbow competitions. She loves every second of teaching dance, and is so excited to join the KAR Convention faculty this year!

Tiffany Schlater

Tiffany has over thirty-five years of dance experience in ballet, jazz, lyrical, hip-hop, musical theater and several styles of tap dancing including Broadway to Hoofing. She served as Dance Captain in the production “Kizmet” at the Ohio State University at age 16 and received a full dance scholarship to the prestigious Gus Giordano Dance Center in Chicago, Illinois. She has performed at the Capital Building in Washington D.C., the Chicago Theater, in the promotional tour for the movie “TAP”, various industrials, charity events and on television. Tiffany has performed with Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Savion Glover, Lane Alexander, the late Gregory Hines and was an original member of the “ETC” Tap Company. She has also had the honor of studying under such greats as Gus Giordano, Henry LeTang, Sandman Simms, Jimmy Slyde, Derick Grant and the Emmy winning Jason Samuels Smith. Tiffany has earned the titles Teacher Of The Year & Top Choreographer on Regional and National level and her choreography has been featured in the New York City Tap Extravaganza and Industry Dance Awards in Hollywood, CA and Las Vegas. Her students can be found on television, Broadway, movies and professional dance companies. Tiffany has been recognized by Stanford Who’s Who of America, Ohio House of Representatives for her dedication to the Arts and is a member of the International Tap Association. She now serves as a National Adjudicator, Master Teacher/Choreographer, NYC Tap Legacy Foundation Ambassador and the Elite Company Director at Judy Dollenmayer Studio of Dance in Columbus, Ohio. Tiffany is committed to sharing her love of dance through mentoring, educating and teaching proper technique across the country.

The KAR Dance Convention Showcase is an informal showing for the parents to see what the dancers have learned throughout the day. Parents are encouraged to take photos and videos of their dancer to capture the fun and excitement of the weekend. The showcase lasts approximately one hour and includes:

The showcase is free of charge and we encourage all family members to come and watch what the dancers learned throughout the day.

Any and all dancers who are not attending via a previously received scholarship.

The dancers are selected by the master teachers.

Yes, in order for a parent to observe class they need to purchase an Observer Band for $20. Click here to purchase yours today!

Teachers are allowed to take class one of two ways. They can pay to take class, or the following must be followed to take for free:

 10 Dancers = 1 Free Teacher

 30 Dancers = 2 Free Teachers

 50 Dancers = 3 Free Teachers

 No more than 3 teachers may take class free of charge.
