Jessica Etzel
Lyrical/Contemp
Jessica has been dancing since the age of 8 and has trained in all genres of dance, making her a versatile teacher and choreographer. She trained with many studios & dance companies before settling into the world of teaching. Jessica currently owns & directs her own studio and dance company in Maryland, where her students are national champion competitors and performers. She has been a featured performer at the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center in Hanover, PA, and she has participated in several events to honor National Dance Week. She was awarded with the Frank Hatchett Broadway Dance Center Scholarship along with the Los Angeles Dance Force, "Dance with the Force Award." Jessica was also named the American Dance Awards "Young Choreographer of the Year,” and her award-winning choreography can be seen throughout the country on both the competition & convention stages. Jessica is a part of the Dance Olympus/DanceAmerica and International Dance Challenge Faculty, where she has had the opportunity to travel to numerous cities, teaching master classes, judging dance competitions, and performing. Jessica graduated from McDaniel College with a degree in Exercise Science and Physical Education. She was also awarded the Richard Clower Award for Excellence.
Nick Gates
Hip Hop
As the son of the first DJ to spin a hip hop record on radio, Nick grew up around entertainment and the hip-hop culture. His inspiration for music, dance and art started at an early age. This all self-taught breakdancer, actor and sculptor is taking the hip hop world by storm. In the first season of So You Think You Can Dance, Nick earned his stripes as the only breakdancer in Chicago to make it through to the top 25. Nick has choreographed for and worked with artists such as Cali Swag District, Rock Steady Crew, Black Eyed Peas, Nelly, Ebony Eyez, Cirque du Soleil, Chemical Brothers, Lululemon Athletica, the Step Up movie premiere, and more. Nick has recently appeared in the viral music video: Teach Me How to Dougie. He has also taught numerous master classes and shared the stage with Pharrell Williams. He has also worked alongside with Michael Jackson's choreographer—Fatima Robinson in BET'S Played By Fame. This jack-of-all-trades also shares a passion for art. Nick has sculpted for various artists including Jay-Z, Ice-T, Nelly, Kanye, Aaliyah, and more. He was recently commissioned by Disney to create sculptures for the cast of Step Up 3D, as well as appearing in the film. Nick has introduced a hip-hop clothing line called Kid-N-Clay, which is inspired by his artwork. For more information, visit

Marisa Kirby
Musical Theater
Marisa is actively working in the world of theatre in addition to being the company artistic director and a choreographer for Ms. Karen's Dance Studio in North Little Rock, Arkansas. She is currently a board member for the Arkansas Dance Network to help promote and advocate the art of dance throughout the state of Arkansas. Marisa grew up dancing and competing and went on to earn a B.F.A in dance performance from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. Marisa has trained in many genres of dance including: tap, jazz, ballet, modern, ballroom, hip hop, lyrical/contemporary, clogging and musical theatre. Marisa has a special love for musical theater and has worked professionally as a choreographer, swing, dance captain and cast member in many professional productions and is also Equity membership candidate. As a choreographer and instructor for the Arkansas Repertory Theater's education program, Marisa has the opportunity to share her love of dance and theater with many aspiring young performers. She is currently collaborating with musicians and writers to create a brand new, all-original musical, Project élan which made its debut in July of 2013. She is also working on a reinvention of the Rogers & Hart classic, Pal Joey that will make its debut in September 2013. Some of her other most recent work includes productions of Cabaret, Irving Berlin's White Christmas and A Christmas Carol. Marisa has been recognized for her choreography both regionally and nationally and her students have also brought home many national and regional titles. Marisa hopes to continue to inspire students to pursue their dreams and perfect their craft.
Jordan Leitson
Tap
Jordan Leitson comes from Cleveland, OH and brings over 20 years of dance experience. He is currently the Co-Owner and Co-Artistic Director of Jordan Center Dance. He was the first worldwide recipient of the prestigious Al Gilbert Memorial Tap Scholarship. Jordan has studied at Point Park University, Alvin Ailey, Steps on Broadway, Dance New Amsterdam, Broadway Dance center, UNLV – Ballet Seminars, and Florida Youth Ballet. He has performed in Disney World, Jazz on Tap Festivals in Atlanta, The David Lynch Show, Doug Benz’Cinderella (danseur and Geppetto) and performances with The Next Project at New York’s City Center Theater and in Maui, Hawaii. He was also featured in Stepp Stewarts Off Broadway hit Red Hot Broadway. Jordan specializes in contemporary, lyrical, tap, ballet and jazz technique and choreography. He has judged and taught for many outstanding dance competitions and conventions around the country. He enjoys teaching and inspiring dancers to be the BEST they can be.
Jen Tompkins
Jazz
Jen Toby has been teaching all disciplines of dance and choreographing competition routines for more than 20 years. She has studied Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Lyrical, Musical Theatre, Contemporary and Hip Hop. Currently she is the owner\director of planetdance in Canton, MI. Her students have won numerous scholarships, overall awards at conventions and competitions and have obtained numerous choreography awards at multiple dance competitions. She has had students perform in the Choreographers Carnival in Los Angeles, California, back up dancers to several different recording artists, assist many different dance conventions and seen on the MTV hit, "Americas Best Dance Crew." Her cutting edge choreography has won numerous awards at both regional and national levels. Jen judges for numerous dance competitions and teaches on workshops around the country. Jen loves teaching and the love of dance instills in students carries throughout all their years of dance.
