About KAR
Kids Artistic Revue is also known as K.A.R. Productions or K.A.R. for short. We are proud to be entering our 25th dance competition season. Kids Artistic Revue was founded and headquartered in Southern California by Rick Lands, owner and director of a successful dance studio. During our first six years, our regional competitions where hosted solely in California. In 1988, our first National Finals were held in Las Vegas, Nevada. The following year, K.A.R. rose to a national level by hosting ten events in six states across the United States. Nineteen years later, we are scheduled to host 36 regional events in over 35 states and three National Finals! We were one of America’s first established dance competitions and have quickly become one of America’s largest and most widely recognized.
In a rapidly growing industry where new dance competitions appear yearly, Kids Artistic Revue continues to stand out as a well organized, professional and highly reputable organization. Our goal is to give young dancers the opportunity to showcase their talent in a positive environment, while still performing under the evaluation of highly qualified judges. The secret behind Kids Artistic Revue’s success is it’s ability to provide a memorable and rewarding experience which keeps everyone coming back for more!
Level abilities are a trade mark which sets Kids Artistic Revue apart from all other national competitions. K.A.R.’s unique leveling system is the reason why we are the only National Dance Competition that attracts such a wide range of dancers. Unlike other competitions that base their divisions strictly on age, we believe that age should not be the only criteria used in placing dancers in a competition. K.A.R. encourages all dancers regardless of their level ability and/or experience to perform at our events. Dance teachers truly appreciate levels because it enables all of their students to participate. They can enter their novice dancers as well as their elite dancers without having them compete against each other. Kids Artistic Revue promotes a fair chance at winning, and gives dance teachers & choreographers the option of placing their dancers in the level they feel is most appropriate.
In 1999, we had some exciting changes to the format of our competition. One of our most common studio requests pertained to our scoring system, you asked for it and we listened! Our scoring system was converted to an adjudicated format. We expanded our Title Competition to include our newest categories, "Mr. & Miss Teen Dance" for children 13 to 15 years of age. But our most popular addition to our format was our new "Master Class Workshops". These exciting 30-minute workshops are free to all of our participants and are taught by some of the most talented master teachers throughout the United States.
Kids Artistic Revue's exciting partnership with Artistic Adventures gives hundreds of children throughout the United States the opportunity of being selected as a "KAR ALL Star Kid." These dancers will be invited to participate in our 7th. Annual Dance Convention in New York City this summer! Our goal is to inspire young performers to have a greater appreciation of the performing arts through a series of Master Classes and educational activities. These 5 days will also be fun-filled with activities such as Broadway shows and some of NYC's most popular attractions.
Kids Artistic Revue is dedicated to making every competition a positive and rewarding experience for all dancers, teachers and parents alike.
