Ramona Rose Ann Turpin
Ramona was born and raised in west Georgia. She began studying the art of dance at the age of 3 which favorably led her into her current career path. As an adolescent, she trained in the dance styles of ballet, tap, jazz, lyrical, hip hop, gymnastics, clogging and cheerleading. She was a competitive dancer for 10 years and instructed competitive and recreational dancers of all ages at her hometown studio, Michelle’s Academy of Dance, for a total of 12 years.
After graduating from Temple High School in 2004, she attended college at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Alabama. While at JSU, Ramona was affiliated with 3 different dance organizations on campus. She performed as a JSU Diamond Girl, a JSU Go-Go and was also a member of the JSU Marching Southerners band where she danced as a JSU Ballerina for 4 years. Ramona also travelled one summer with the Spirit of JSU Drum Corps where she performed as a color guard and dance line member. Ramona graduated from JSU in 2008 with a B.S. degree in Early Childhood Education.
Ramona feels, “It is so rewarding to watch students improve as performers and as responsible young people from year to year. I’m so blessed for the opportunities dance has provided me and I absolutely LOVE what I do! It is so inspiring to be around dancers and instructors that share the same passion of dance!”
For the past 12 years, she has enjoyed watching the talented dancers across America grace the KAR and Rainbow stages. Ramona recently joined the Rainbow Dance office team as the Scoring and Rules specialist and a Competition Director. Ramona is a proud mother to her 9 year old son, Jackson, where they happily reside in Las Vegas, NV.
