ONLY 1 FREE SOLO PER DANCER WILL BE ACCEPTED FOR EACH GRADUATING SENIOR. Be sure to submit their best video performance of the style and genre they do best. This is their time to shine and showcase all the hard work they’ve done over the years at your studio.

June 5-8, 2020 KAR Virtual – Graduating Senior Solo Competition! “Some have a story…this year All Seniors have made history!” The following KAR levels are open for registration of this event:

• SECONDARY AGE 15-19
• INTERMEDIATE AGE 15-19
• ELITE AGE 15-19

A special tribute and video montage will be created for all participating Graduating Seniors. Exact video details will be provided for you to upload and send us photos of your Graduating Seniors. Look out for a special email that will provide you with additional information and deadlines.

Be sure to register your Graduating Senior for a chance to win a $250 scholarship. This exemplary award is presented to graduating Seniors who have excelled both on and off the stage. To be eligible for this award, a dancer must complete the official application process at https://dancekar.wufoo.com/forms/2020-kar-senior-scholarship-application/ The dancer must also be registered and participate at our Virtual National event. The winner of each scholarship is selected by the KAR Scholarship Committee. DEADLINE to Register is June 1, 2020.

HOW TO REGISTER:

1. Sign into your STUDIO CENTER
2. Once all performances are registered, click on Music Manager & Virtual Competition Video Uploads to upload your video files

      Video File Requirements – MP4 file with a maximum file size of 500MB

1. A tentative schedule will be sent the Friday prior to the event by 4pm PST
2. Deadlines for Video Uploads and ANY performance changes are Tuesday at 7pm PST before the Virtual Event
3. A Final Schedule will be emailed to the STUDIO on Wednesday the week of the event by 12 noon PST

COMPETITION GUIDELINES:

1. All Virtual Competitions will adhere to the 2020 KAR Rules and Regulations. https://dancekar.com/competition/rules
2. Submissions can be recordings from ANY conventions/competitions, KAR or not. You may also use videos from recitals, showcases or any other performances or rehearsals. Recreational and professional settings accepted. Due to the Virtual environment, all Overall Appearance scores will be given an automatic score of 5 to make it fair for all participating studios. 
3. All performances will be evaluated using the KAR Judging and Scoring criteria. Please review the KAR Rules and Regulations for more details https://dancekar.com/competition/rules
4. We are ONLY accepting Solos for the FREE Graduating Senior Virtual Solo Competition
5. Only 1 solo per dancer is permitted to register
6. This event is limited to the SECONDARY, INTERMEDIATE and ELITE levels only
7. This event is limited to the age division of 15-19 only
8. Please make sure your performances are family friendly!

JUDGING, SCORING AND AWARDS:

1. Each performance will be adjudicated by a professional panel of three predetermined judges.
2. General Awards placement will be posted on the results page. This will be a new tab added to our website results page. Only High Point Awards and additional scholarships will be presented during the LIVE awards presentation.
3. All registered performances will receive Judges’ commentary and score sheets.
4. Overall High Point awards will be presented in the respective Levels and Age Divisions.

Due to the unforeseen ramifications of the COVID-19 Pandemic, KAR and Rainbow’s offices are officially closed until March 31, 2020. All events scheduled for 3/13 through 3/27 weekend have been officially postponed. We are diligently working with all venues to reschedule. Updated information will be released and posted on our website. All events scheduled prior to the Easter holiday will be closely monitored and we will be in communication with updated information. We are all in this together and we will be extending our Regional season to keep the competition season thriving.  

Please feel free to reach out to us if there is anything we can advise or do to help your studio through this uncertain time.

All communications, including email and voicemail messages will be responded to in a timely manner.  Please allow up to 48 hours for a response. Emails and voicemail messages received after 4:30pm on a Friday will be responded to the next business day, Monday by 4:30pm. Due to the overwhelming amount of emails and voicemails, we will only be returning correspondence to Studio Owners and Directors. As we have temporarily closed our offices, please advise your parents that we will only be responding to Studio Owners and Directors.

To our KAR Dance Family,

As promised, we wanted to check in to assure we are continuously taking proactive, preventative measures to protect against exposure to COVID-19 at our events.

KAR is relying on fact-based information from organizations like the CDC for best practices and recommendations.

In addition, we have also taken the time to hear your feedback and want to align with you in supporting your concerns.

With that said, until further notice we would like to propose the following:

• We are asking to limit the number of spectators attending to ONE per dancer.
• Within your individual studios, please encourage parents/dancers to use dressing rooms for its intended purpose only.
• Schedules may be modified to add multiple awards ceremonies to assist with the flow of performers and guests within the venue.
• Encourage your dancers and staff to continue to follow the personal health guidelines provided by fact-based agencies.

We intend and hope to hold ALL of our scheduled events.  Should circumstances beyond our control arise, we will work diligently and swiftly to notify you of any changes.

We understand the concern that many people feel regarding the possible spread of COVID‐19 and wish to reassure our dance community that KAR is committed to maintaining safe events. We will continue to monitor developments throughout this situation and pledge to keep you informed of any new developments regarding COVID‐19 that could impact the health of our clients, dancers, employees and families.
