Northrop will welcome Misty Copeland, celebrated dancer, author, celebrity spokesperson, and the first African-American woman elevated to ballet’s highest title of principal dancer in New York’s American Ballet Theatre for a special event. The program will feature Misty’s personal story of overcoming hardships as a young girl, her meteoric rise in the world of ballet and beyond, and her commitment to empowering youth worldwide. The master of ceremonies for the event is Robyne Robinson, and actress and Minnesota native Lea Thompson is a special guest. Proceeds from this event help support Northrop’s youth programming, which transforms lives through arts enrichment and education.

Attention KAR Studios!

It has come to our attention by the Executive Director of the Association of Dance Conventions & Competitions that someone is running a SCAM on our industry and we wanted to make sure our valued clients and studios were alerted immediately.

“Please be alerted, someone is contacting dance studios via a phone call and telling them their payments are not going through on behalf of a certain competition (woman who said her name was Tanya) and that they need to provide bank routing information or credit card information so their payments can be processed. Studios may mistake this call for thinking it is KAR, when in fact they are providing the information to a third party.”

KAR has a special, unique phone access code that is used for the verification of your identity. This code was set when your studio account was created. KAR will always ask for this code when conducting financial transactions.

Please contact us immediately if you receive any suspicious calls.

All dancers 9 years of age & above from the PRIMARY, SECONDARY, INTERMEDIATE and ELITE levels are eligible for this award. Highline Performing Arts Center has cancelled our event this weekend (February 9-10) due to the State of Emergency in the Seattle area caused by the winter storm. They do not feel that the roads will be safe and they can not properly staff the event for the safety of all. Although we hoped for better news, we also want to make sure everyone is safe and off the roads.

Our Customer Care team has been in communication with the participating studios regarding refunds, rescheduling and other options.

We have just received unfortunate news regarding the 2019 Panama City Finals for KAR and Rainbow. Due to damages caused by Hurricane Michael, the Marina Civic Center has officially provided notification that the venue repairs will not be completed in time to produce our events as initially planned.

We have done our due diligence to find and replace the three Panama City Finals, unfortunately there are no available venues with the appropriate dates or space requirements to produce a similar event.

With this devastating news, we are sad to officially announce that KAR and Rainbow Panama City Finals are cancelled. We hope you are able to join us at one of our five other spectacular Finals!

We’ve now made the process to transfer performances between KAR and Rainbow seamless and effortless with our NEW LEVEL RECOMMENDATIONS. If you attend a KAR Regional you can attend a Rainbow Finals or vice versa. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact our office.
