To our KAR Dance Family,

As promised, we wanted to check in to assure we are continuously taking proactive, preventative measures to protect against exposure to COVID-19 at our events.

KAR is relying on fact-based information from organizations like the CDC for best practices and recommendations.

In addition, we have also taken the time to hear your feedback and want to align with you in supporting your concerns.

With that said, until further notice we would like to propose the following:

• We are asking to limit the number of spectators attending to ONE per dancer.
• Within your individual studios, please encourage parents/dancers to use dressing rooms for its intended purpose only.
• Schedules may be modified to add multiple awards ceremonies to assist with the flow of performers and guests within the venue.
• Encourage your dancers and staff to continue to follow the personal health guidelines provided by fact-based agencies.

We intend and hope to hold ALL of our scheduled events.  Should circumstances beyond our control arise, we will work diligently and swiftly to notify you of any changes.

We understand the concern that many people feel regarding the possible spread of COVID‐19 and wish to reassure our dance community that KAR is committed to maintaining safe events. We will continue to monitor developments throughout this situation and pledge to keep you informed of any new developments regarding COVID‐19 that could impact the health of our clients, dancers, employees and families.

Northrop will welcome Misty Copeland, celebrated dancer, author, celebrity spokesperson, and the first African-American woman elevated to ballet’s highest title of principal dancer in New York’s American Ballet Theatre for a special event. The program will feature Misty’s personal story of overcoming hardships as a young girl, her meteoric rise in the world of ballet and beyond, and her commitment to empowering youth worldwide. The master of ceremonies for the event is Robyne Robinson, and actress and Minnesota native Lea Thompson is a special guest. Attention KAR Studios!

It has come to our attention by the Executive Director of the Association of Dance Conventions & Competitions that someone is running a SCAM on our industry and we wanted to make sure our valued clients and studios were alerted immediately.

“Please be alerted, someone is contacting dance studios via a phone call and telling them their payments are not going through on behalf of a certain competition (woman who said her name was Tanya) and that they need to provide bank routing information or credit card information so their payments can be processed. Studios may mistake this call for thinking it is KAR, when in fact they are providing the information to a third party.”

KAR has a special, unique phone access code that is used for the verification of your identity. This code was set when your studio account was created. KAR will always ask for this code when conducting financial transactions.
